New
Launches a new document, based on the current default settings.

New...

Launches a new document, based on the template file that you choose from the available templates.

Open...
Loads a chart from a file.

Save
Saves the current chart into the current file. If there is no current file, the user is prompted for a file name.

Save As...
Saves the current chart into the file specified by the user.

Save Web Page...
Saves the current chart into as a web page.

Close

Close the document. If this is the only document that is open, the application remains open, but with no document. Use the File New or File New... commands to open a document.

Print...
Prints the current chart, or the selected symbols and connected lines.

Setup Paper and Printer...
The printer driver's dialog box is displayed, allowing the user to change printer settings.

Load Shapes...
Loads a shape file. A shape file defines the names and drawing instructions for symbol types.

Exit
Exits the Chartist application. If the current chart has been changed, the user will be prompted to save or abandon it.

Edit Commands

Delete (Del)
Deletes selected items.

Undo (Ctrl+Z)
Restores perviously modified items.

Copies the selected symbols and lines to the Clipboard.

Cut (Ctrl+X)
Copies the selected symbols and lines to the Clipboard and deletes them from the chart.

Copies the contents of the Clipboard to the chart.

Locates symbols containing certain text.

Locates and optionally replaces text in symbols.

Selects all symbols from the coordinate of the current selected symbol to the end of the chart in the indicated direction.

Relocates the selected symbols, together with any connected lines.

Causes the centers of the selected symbols to be realigned as indicated. Chartist-Pro

Causes the selected symbols to flip in the Y dimension. Chartist-Pro

Edits the text inside a symbol, and allows the selection of fonts for use with that text.

Changes the size of all text in the selected symbols by 2 points. Chartist-Pro

Edits all fonts in all selected symbols. Any changes are applied to the entire group.

Adds a line from one symbol another.

Select the lines connected to the selected symbols, and de-select the symbols.

Properties... (Alt+F3)
Changes the pen style, line width, arrow style, route style and label text for lines.

Add Waypoint (Ctrl+Tab)
Segments a line and adds a special "handle" symbol for route manipulation.

Main Branch
Causes the selected line to be the first line drawn to a given attachment point. This makes other Auto lines ending at the same point "fan-in" to that line

Redraws the chart display.

The scale of the display is increased by 25% of full scale.

The scale of the display is decreased by 25% of full scale.

When checked, symbol bitmaps are displayed. When not checked, symbol bitmaps are represented as gray rectangles, saving display time.

When checked, the attachment points for lines on symbols are shown.

Spell Options

The configuation dialog for the Spelling Checker. The Spelling Checker is only available in Chartist-Pro

Default Symbol Size...
Selects the initial size of new symbols added to the chart. Also, the Symbol Reset Size command applies the default symbol size to the selected symbols.

Chart...
Changes the dimensions of the chart document, the interval between grid points and the units of measure.

Dafault Font...
Sets the default font for the document, and for line labels.

Snap to Grid
When checked, all user dimensions and locations entered with the cursor are snapped to the nearest multple of the grid interval for the respective axis.

Line Attach Points
Selects the number of line attachment points on each symbol side.

Diagonal Labels

When checked, direct style line labels follow the routes of the lines.

Auto Fan In

When checked the Auto line Fan-In logic is enabled. This causes auto lines that end at the same place to have arrows where they merge with the first line connected to that point.

Active Planes
Enables or disables the symbol selection and designation logic for the symbol planes.

Background Color...
Sets the background color for the Chart

Misc Settings...

Changes the line thickness and standard symbol size settings.

Welcome Dialog

When checked, the Welcome dialog appears when Chartist is first run. This dialog helps new users learn about Chartist, and provides a daily tip with associated help. Uncheck this command to disable this dialog.

Displays the Chartist copyright information and the full path name of the current shape file.
